Inscription on verso: "View of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr., standing [illegible] destroyed German plane, which he [illegible] just brought down. Lt. Luke flew a Spad [illegible]. The destroyed German plane was a biplane. Near Verdun, Dept. of Meuse, France. Sept. 18-1918."
