[Soldier with oil-burning heater]

Description

Photograph of an unidentified soldier standing next to an oil-burning heater in France, circa 1918. This style of heater was used to heat water for field messes.

Part of the Wilbur D. Kennedy photograph album containing six hundred and five (605) black-and-white photographs, as well as a few pieces of ephemera, circa 1917-1919. The photos trace Kennedy's military career from his infantry training in the United States to his service in France during World War I and post-war service in Germany.
