Caption on verso: "FEC-47-70700. 28 Jan 47. Defense attorney at IMTFE in Tokyo: Mr. Charles B. Caudle, defense attorney representing Toshio Shiratori at the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, proposes a dismissal of the case against his defendant for lack of evidence, during the war crimes trials of the 26 alleged Japanese war criminals in the War Ministry Bldg., Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Caudle, whose home is in Wadesboro, N.C., attended Wake Forest College, LLB 1930; served as attorney-at law with Caudle Law Firm in Wadesboro, N.C., and Caudle & Nicholson Law Firm in Charlotte, N.C.; was attorney in Office of Solicitor, Dept. of Agriculture - 1935-1937; former Mayor of Wadesboro N.C., which office he resigned to enter U.S. Navy; former chairman, Arson County N.C. Board of Electors, and former member of Arson County Board of Health. He served as Lt. in U.S. Naval Reserves, and as gunnery officer on ships in Mediterranean Theater, at Salerno, Anzio, and Southern France invasions. Photographer - Einhorn."
