Earhart became the first person to fly solo from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland. Photograph has been hand-tinted to accentuate outlines and clarify background.
Inscription on verso: "Clambering out! At right, sky heroine climbs out of the trim monoplane that winged her safely through wind and fog to the Oakland Airport. She made the flight in a little over eighteen hours."
