Typed on verso: "Aerial supply to fighting units in isolated regions of Burma and China was an important task of the Troop Carrier planes. Food, ammunition and medical supplies were dropped by parachute to designated clearings near enemy lines. The 443rd Troop Carrier Group [handwritten addition: soon to arrive in Shanghai] participated in the longest sustained supply operation in history. For over nine months they dropped or landed supplies to the British and Chinese forces in Burma wholly dependent upon the airplanes for subsistence and arms.
