There is a black label on bottom portion of the glass with the white text, “Lear Attitude Gyro Model 974R-1.” The metal is cylindrical with pieces screwed together. The base has two circular openings with the text, “Air Inlet” in high relief underneath. There is a short brown plastic wire with a black and silver plug at the end.

There are 3 labels adhered to the side of the gyroscope. One is a manufacturer’s label with the text, “W/O no. (illegible); date: 2-11-84; Porter-Strait Instruments, Co., Inc. Box 51372, Tulsa, OK 74151, FAA Certified Repair Station 2266.” In addition to the 3 labels, is a Lear, Inc. plaque screwed into the metal with the text, “SAE Spec. AS 402 CAA TSO C9; Model no. 974R-1 ATT Gyro; Schematic: 96247; Assembly: 96245; Auto pilot model: L-2; Ser. No. 61BH4M; wt. 29 lbs.; Lear, Inc.
