Inscription on verso: "July 1947. This is a picture taken just after the plane hooked onto the sled and the engine was cut off. The hook on the float just [illegible] catch on the sled. Notice the way they swing that hook to the pilot so he can attach it to the hoist sling on the plane. That hook is a dangerous weapon when it swings at you ([Jarina?] got clipped on the jaw with it - it took 4 stitches to put him in shape again.) That long pole the fellows have is the fending off pole to keep the plane from banging against the ship when they lift it clear of the water."Creation Date1947-07SubjectUnited States.
