Playset opens to each room by sliding the fabric covering open. Exterior of fabric covering is printed all over to read "Mars Habitat Simulation" with US Flag and NASA logos, along with Section A, B, C identification text. There are skylight windows and satellite dish at the top of the unit. There are three exterior gray plastic stairs at each of the sliding doorways.

The interior of the playset has built out room sections, for the storage/living area, the greenhouse and glove box, and the computer station/control center. Floor of playset is blue plastic.
