It was originally a subsidiary of Pan American World Airways (PAA), however in 1960, Pan Am gave up its stake in the airline and it was taken over by Transportes Aéreos Nacionales (TAN). For a time, the airline was known as TAN SAHSA before returning to its original SAHSA name prior to its closure.
