Inscription included with photo: "Bob Johnson, September 1943 with 56th Fighter Group lucky mascots - a black and friendly crow. - Per page 144 of 'Thunderbolt!', Robert S. Johnson with Martin Caidin, Rinehart and Company, Inc: New York and Toronto, 1958. See also Chapter 11 same book. Summer of 1944 Robert S. Johnson is US leading ace with 28 confirmed air to air kills."
