Typed caption glued to verso: "He photographs U.S. raids on German targets. A photographer of the Ninth U.S. Army Air Force is pictured with his camera, ready to board one of the B-24 Liberator bombers for a raid on German installations in Europe from the Ninth's base in Africa. Photographers fly on all bombing missions and bring back pictures such as those taken in the raid on oil fields and refineries at Ploesti, Romania, on Aug. 1, 1943, when American flyers damaged one [of] Germany's most important sources of oil and gasoline. Planes of the Ninth Air Force bombed military targets in the first raid on Rome, raided Wiener Neustadt, Austria, from their African base, and have flown missions against the Germans in North Africa and Italy.
