Photograph of an unidentified American soldier standing next to a Salmson 2 A2 biplane (tail number 131, fuselage number 6) parked in front of a hangar, likely in France or Germany, circa 1917-1919. The plane bears the emblem of the 12th Aero Squadron and has "Old Carolina IV" and "T.S.F. Photo" painted on the fuselage.

Part of the Wilbur D. Kennedy photograph album containing six hundred and five (605) black-and-white photographs, as well as a few pieces of ephemera, circa 1917-1919. The photos trace Kennedy's military career from his infantry training in the United States to his service in France during World War I and post-war service in Germany.
