Letter from Herman Butler to his aunt and uncle, Lela and Curtis Butler, January 10, 1919. Explains that the 135th Squadron will be returning to U.S. soon but he will transfer to stay in the country for a while longer; describes the ruins and trenches at the front and witnessing a German observation plane shot down the day before the Armistice; mentions there is plenty of pretty French Madameoiselles [sic] over here that sure like to polly vous to the Yanks; criticizes drafted men. Seven handwritten pages, with envelope addressed to Mrs. C. N. Butler in Burlington, Washington.
