[John Sylvester Wheelwright photograph album]

Photograph album related to John Sylvester Wheelwright's service with the Royal Naval Air Service, circa 1907-1943. The album contains approximately 237 black-and-white photographs, illustrations, and paper ephemera items documenting Wheelwright's military career as an airship pilot, commander, and engineer, primarily during World War I. The visual materials depict airships and their components and aerial views taken in England, Scotland, and the North Sea. Also depicted are servicemen, naval ships, naval air stations, and a few aircraft. The paper ephemera is comprised of clippings on airship mooring and rescue rafts and a certificate recognizing Wheelwright as "mentioned in dispatches."

This album has been removed from its binding for reasons of preservation.
