Title

[Letter from Wilbur D. Kennedy to Carmelite (Miller) Kennedy, December 8, 1918]

Description

Letter from Wilbur D. Kennedy to Carmelite (Miller) Kennedy, December 8, 1918. Discusses being offered three choices: "go into the regular army with the rank I now hold [1st Lieutenant], go into the reserve with an increase of rank or go home and really live. I debated about 10 seconds and signified my desire to go home whenever they felt like sending me." Relates being put up for a captaincy on October 15, but that once the Armistice was signed promotions were discontinued. Also notes that he has included German paper currency, "devilish ugly stuff" and suggests plans for meeting once he is sent home. Four handwritten pages, with envelope with Zwei mark enclosure.
