Pocket diary belonging to Ray M. Grimshaw, 1917-1918. Details Grimshaw's enlistment in the United States Army Signal Corps and his time stationed in England and France. Most entries are brief, comprised of one or two lines, and focus on the daily life of a soldier, including guard duty, standing muster, drill exercises, travel details, and off-duty activities. A few pages have doodles, including one on the inside rear cover of the Signals Corps emblem (two crossed signal flags with a flaming torch at center) with "32nd Sqd'n" written underneath. Note that many entries are difficult to read due to age.
