Photograph of the USS Salt Lake City (CA-25) deploying a boat to the Jagersfontein near Honolulu, Hawaii, circa 1941. The photograph was taken by AVG (American Volunteer Group) serviceman Robert H. Neale while en route to the China-Burma-India Theater.

Inscription on verso: "The Salt Lake City sending a small boat to the Jagersfontein somewhere off Honolulu. Notice the bow wave painted on the bow. On the left is one engine of the 2 De-5s aboard. The other cruiser is painted black with a gray bow-wave."
