Description

Photograph of the Aerial Experiment Association's Cygnet I kite onboard its tender, the catamaran Ugly Duckling, at Bras d'Or Lake, Baddeck, Nova Scotia, December 6, 1907. Several men are on boat, including Thomas E. Selfridge (seated on frame).

Inscription: "Cygnet I, on board her tender the Ugly Duckling, December 1909. Lieut. Selfridge dressed in oil skin, can be seen setting [sitting] on the testing frame of the Ugly Duckling."

Caption from bulletin: "5. The kite Cygnet I, on board her tender 'The Ugly Duckling', Dec. 6, 1907. Lieut. Selfridge, dressed in oil-skin, can be seen sitting on the tilting-frame of the 'Ugly Duckling.'"
