Film footage of rescue operations for Boeing B-29 Superfortress "City of Galveston" crew, circa June 1945. The footage, filmed by Commander Hiram Cassidy of the USS Pintado, documents the rescue of the crew of "City of Galveston," a Boeing B-29 Superfortress of the 39th Bombardment Group, after the aircraft was damaged during a bombing mission against Japan. Scenes include the aircraft hitting the water and plumes of smoke rising into the sky, the crew being pulled from the water and helped aboard the Pintado, and the crew being transferred to the USS Tigrone for the trip back to Guam. The title cards identify two of the crew members: General George Mundy and Major John A. Miranda. At 00:04:03, an unidentified aircraft is shown flying in the distance.
