Caption on verso: "FEC-47-70179. 14 Jan 47. Torpedoed seaman testifies on war crimes: John A. McDougall of Menlo, Calif. A seaman aboard the SS Jean Nicolett [Nicolet] when it was torpedoed in the Indian Ocean on July 2nd 1944, testifies at the International Military Tribunal for the Far East in Tokyo on the mistreatment he received after being picked up by a Japanese submarine and before he escaped. Photographer - Thompson."
