Defense attorney at IMTFE in Tokyo: Major Ben Bruce Blakeney, defense attorney representing Yoshijiro Umezu at the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, proposes a dismissal of the case against his defendant for lack of evidence, during the war crimes trials of the 26 alleged Japanese war criminals in the War Ministry Bldg., Tokyo, Japan. Major. Blakeney, whose home is in Oklahoma City, Okla., attended VA. Military Inst.; W. & L. Univ.; Sorbonne, U. of Okla., B.A. - 1926, and Harvard Law School, LLB - 1932. He served as attorney for Okla. Magnolia Petro. Co.; entered the Army in April 1942; served as Chief, Japanese SEO. & P.O.W. Interrogation Div., Air Intell. School, June 1942 - April 1946; was lecturer to Air Staff, Washington, D.C., and traveled around the world twice on Intell. missions, 1943-44, 1945. Major Blakeney is one of the few U.S. attorneys that speaks Japanese fluently. Photographer - Einhorn."
