Plaque with two thin silver metal rectangular pieces placed side by side and adhered to large rectangular yellow brown wood backing. The left piece has images of William P. Lear and the Lear Jet, and "Industrial Research, October 1971," along the top. The right portion has the following text, "IR Man of the Year, 1971, Presented to William P. Lear for his numerous innovative contributions, including automatic aircraft navigation, pilot and approach systems; the 'Lear Jet' business plane; the eight-track stereo sound tape system; and low-emission external combustion engines. Industrial Research Inc."
