Plaque given to Moya Olsen Lear by Delta Air Lines, circa 1980-1983. Engraved metal plate mounted on wood base. A photocopy of a clipping about Moya Lear has been taped to the back and includes a handwritten note.
Engraved on front: "Delta Air Lines / Flying Colonel / Moya O. Lear / In recognition of major contributions to, and support of, Delta Air Lines / [signature of David C. Garrett, Jr., President and CEO]."
Printed on verso: "From the desk of Stan Brown / Mrs. Lear makes colonel / Mrs. Moya Lear was presented with a 'Flying Colonel' award by Delta Air Lines this week at the MGM Grand-Reno. Mrs. Lear was praised for continuing her late husband's efforts in the field of aviation. Bill Lear designed the Lear Fan jet now being engineered in Stead for production in Northern Ireland. Mrs. Lear kept the project alive until a well-financed private group took over last fall."
