Co-sponsored by the Patent and Trademark Office of the U.S. Department of Commerce and the National Council of Intellectual Property Law Associations, the National Inventors Hall of Fame confers public recognition on Inventors and their scientific contributions which have enriched our nation's welfare. / Among Lear's 150 patents is the first practical automobile radio, electric brushless motor and 8-track stereo tape recorder. For aviation he developed a multitude of navigational aids, including a lightweight automatic pilot and the Learjet / Born 1902 -- Hannibal, Missouri / Died 1978."
