Title
Description
The Katherine Duffy Ashe Kla Ha Ya Flight Collection consists of five black-and-white 6x8" photographs and four newspaper clippings relating to the 1914 flight of Katherine Duffy Ashe and pilot T. T. Maroney in a Curtiss Model D 1912 Pusher at the Kla Ha Ya Days festival in Snohomish, Washington.
Each of the photographs is affixed to a matboard with "O. E. Graves, Everett, Wash." (photographer Orrin E. Graves) pressed into the lower left corner of the border. On the reverse, each photograph includes a partial red and blue sticker "Everett Kla-How-Yah July 1-2-3-4." Additionally, each image has "Everett Kla-How-Yah 1914" printed on the front left corner of the photograph and are numbered 1-5. The images depict Ashe and Maroney next to and in the parked aircraft.
Photograph "1" includes three newspaper clippings taped on the verso that relate to Ashe, her flight with Maroney, and the death of T. T Maroney.
Photograph "1" and "3" each have a handwritten note on the reverse: "Curtiss Model D 1912 Model."
Photograph "5" has a handwritten note on the reverse: "Terah T. Maroney, July 3, 1913 - Harold L. [Moody?], Jr., July 3, 1914 - Miss Katherine Duffy, July 3, 1914" with the word "Aviators" to the right of the caption.
There is also one photocopy of a Bellingham Sunday Herald article that features an interview with Katherine Ashe Duffy about her experience, August 7, 1977.
