Title

Notes on the Caproni 600 night-bombing biplane [Technical report]

Description

Technical report titled "Notes on the Caproni 600 night-bombing biplane," by S. E. Hutton, circa 1919. Hardcover typescript report expands on Hutton's 1918 report on the Caproni Ca.44 (Military Ca.5, Ca.600) aircraft, with additional material written for the operator's perspective. The report provides much of the assembly and specifications from the first report, including component dimensions, system charts, and procedures for fuselage, nacelle, wing assembly. Additional content includes use of navigation instruments and electrical systems, fuel system management, further specifications on the two motors used (Fiat and Isotta-Fraschini) and their operation, and notes on aspects of flying the aircraft.

Includes one hundred (100) original photographs tipped in to the report and eighteen (18) blueprints and diagrams, illustrating various aspects of the aircraft and construction. Most but not all of the photographs are copies of those found in the first report. Images feature detail shots of rigging, controls, cockpit, bomb racks, wheels, engines, and various other components; construction and fitting progress of fuselage, nacelle, landing gear, central section, wings, tails, propellers; work spaces, equipment, and supplies; views of the complete aircraft and testing, with workers in some shots; and a group photograph of the crew in front of the aircraft, including Gianni Caproni.
