A Brief History of the 88th Aero Squadron on the Front

Document, "A Brief History of the 88th Aero Squadron on the Front," circa 1918. Nine-page mimeographed document relating the activities of the 88th during their time overseas, from their arrival in France in November 1917 to the armistice in November 1918. The account describes the movements of the 88th in France, giving detailed specifics on the men assigned to different duties, dates and locations, affiliations with Army Corps and other squadrons, individual missions and participation in conflicts such as Château Thierry, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne. The narrative includes descriptions of aerodrome construction, observation missions, accounts of major battles, and ends with the order for the 88th to join the occupational forces in Germany post-armistice.
