Typed caption glued to verso of duplicate photo: "#2---Hickam Field, Hawaii. December 7, 1941. S/Sgt. Lee R. Embree, at camp site on the edge of Hickam Field. Air crews of the 38th Reconnaissance Squadron were forced to spend the night of December 7th at this side, because Hickam Field Barracks were destroyed by Japanese attack. It rained most of the night and there was heavy anti-aircraft firing around midnight. Photo by 1st Lt. William B. Ellis, 38th Reconnaissance Squadron, USAAC."
