Title
[Servicemen recovering Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk aircraft from the water]
Description
Photograph of U.S. Navy servicemen recovering a Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk aircraft from the water and loading it onto the ship's catapult, circa July 1947. The pilot, likely Remi Charles O'Connor Collection, is visible in the cockpit.
Inscription on verso: "Just about to secure flight operations here - They have hauled me out of the water and are in the process of setting me back on the catapult. Note - it’s an all hands [illegible] almost in getting a plane aboard. I might add that I look very concerned about the whole thing. Really I’m very happy because I was just flying (the other poor guy is still in the air - you can see him between the float and the fuselage)."
