Description

Servo Module A-5 automatic pilot equipment made out of solid black metal. There are components screwed into the main body, each circular in form. "M-1" is painted in white on the side of the object. There are two metal plates screwed into the object with equipment information. The first plate reads, "A-5 Automatic Pilot, Air Corps U.S. Army, spec no. 27361, order no. AC-17194, serial no. AC-41-1387; Servo no. 644833, M.F.D. by Vickers Inc. patents owned by Sperry Gyroscope co. Inc." The second reads, "Direct Current Mottor, made in U.S.A. The Holtzer-Cabot Electric Co., Boston-Chicago, RBD 2210, no.1145635, 24 volts, 1/10 H.P., 4.6 Amps, 6000 R.P.M." There is also an attached canvas bag with parts inside and a tag that reads, "Important Servo Mod. The Gyropilot name and plate must be prominently mounted in the cockpit, C.A.A. regulations."
