Description

Souvenir album from the U.S. Naval Training Camp, Seattle, Washington, circa 1919. The album features numerous individual and group portraits of the commander, department heads, officers, women "yeomanettes," medical staff, various detachments and companies; views of camp exteriors and interiors including officers' quarters, the hospital, offices, barracks, labs, sheds, library, canteen; shots of men in classes and at leisure, including gunnery, engine, fuselage, crew and swimming courses, billiards and bowling; one bird's-eye view of men marching in formation at a Liberty Loan parade in downtown Seattle; and a panorama of the camp from across the water.

The cover is made from brown suede and has the title "U.S. Naval Training Camp, Seattle, U.S.A." and the name Julius Christian Harland Knauss printed in gold. It is credited as compiled by Frank S. Kline, Chief Yeoman of the U.S. Navy and printed by Lumberman's Printing Company in Seattle.
