Abstract
This audio recording contains business letters dictated by William P. Lear to his secretary June Shields, recorded at the Lear home in Geneva, Switzerland, circa June 1960. The letters primarily focus on Lear’s business ventures in Europe and discuss details regarding business proposals, meetings, aircraft components and systems, and aircraft certification. One letter is a response to Molt Taylor, who contacted Lear about possibly producing the Aerocar. Another letter, addressed to Flight Safety Foundation director Jerome Lederer, contains Lear’s thoughts on air safety and the need for improved automatic pilot systems. Other addressees include Al Handschumacher, George Haldeman, Giuseppe Stefani, Rex Benson, Jack Reese, and Les Lear. The recording concludes with a brief message addressed directly to Shields from Lear, describing life in Europe.
